Chanel and Equal Marriage

Recently Chanel showed their spring and summer 2013 show. The fashion was amazing featuring 3D flowers and long off the shoulder silhouettes. The colours were dark for a spring and summer show and the classic tweed Chanel jackets and skirts were seen reinvented for 2013. One of my favourite parts of all of the looks from the show were the long lace boots. Shown in cream, black and navy blue the boots were lace, midi-heel and around thigh high length. A stunning piece of footwear. Sequins also featured heavily in the show. Along with extravagant feather head dresses and mysterious black feathered eye up on the models eyes contrasting with the soft clothing. Over all the show was stunning as always from Chanel. Elegant and beautiful. With the set featuring real trees the models strutted around a summer wonderland. But the show showcased more than just amazing couture fashion. With gay marriage debates going on around Paris and Britain Chanel's Karl Largerfield put his point across in a more controversial way.

With the show being dubbed "the lesbian catwalk show" the fashion show rocked the world. For the finale wedding looks Karl Lagerfeld send down two female models in matching wedding dress (stunning) hand in hand with Karl Lagerfeld's god son. This brought the marriage debate to the forefront of the fashion industry and the world. This is one of the biggest issues in the gay, bisexual and lesbian communities right now so this show happened at just the right time to spark debate and action. Rita Ora and Diana Kruger who were sat on the FROW viewed his opinions and Chanel's finest work to date. When asked about the fashion show, gay marriage and the models Karl Lagerfeld said "Of course it was. I do not understand why people who live together cannot have the same security as those bourgeois who are married". Controversial as ever.

Since writing this blog post gay marriage bill has just been passed in the UK. Will we be seeing more catwalk shows like this? We will have to wait and see what the fashion industry holds in store for us.

I'm now on What I Wore Today ! WIWT

As social media changes and grows various different sites pop up to show or tell people what your doing. A friend told me about What I Wore Today (WIWT), which is a fashion lovers version of Instagram. You post a daily pic of what you are wearing each day and people like your photo. I love this website. I can see what both men and women are wearing, keep an eye on small urban trends and see what my friends are wearing too. As its the new year I thought today would be a good day to join WIWT. I have posted my daily outfit (shown below). I will post photos everyday on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram too but be sure to check out my profile so you don't miss anything ! Ryster
