Shop the S/S 15/16 Collection Now!

A Sunday in Sheffield.

It started with waking up at 7am. A sunny day that I knew would turn into a blur once it was over. It's show day and I started the day manufacturing the final dress. This turned out to be a life saving idea later on.

I arrive dat the venue, Soyo Bar in Sheffield at 2pm. The day was filled with nerves, smiles, fittings, make up meetings and run throughs. It was interesting to make connections with models and get to talk with them about future work. This resulted in me being able to have 7 new potential models for runways and campaigns! In particular I have one that I have already asked to work with in an up and coming project with more details coming soon!

It was a great day. The outfits looked amazing, even if I do say so myself and it was then that I felt like a real designer. Only then. It felt real. Getting to see the clothing that I have slaved over for such a long time for on women, seeing them fit, seeing the women smile and compliment the looks simply warmed my heart. It made me feel proud of what I had accomplished. After the fitting was complete I had time to become organised. I had the opportunity to finalise my line up and work out who was changing into what next and if it was at all possible. Shoes sorted along with hair and make meant that we were free to sit and relax for a little bit. This was around 5.30pm.

It was at this point that I thought to myself 'this is what every designer had to do. This is what Coco had to do'. Each great label started somewhere. Yes it was only a small collection. But it was made out of love and each garment had the right amount of care and attention that it deserved. It was also at this point where I started to feel scared. Scared of the fact that there was a possibility that no one would turn up. Sharing this moment with non of the people closest to me was something I was scared of.  A feeling that if I'm honest isn't too new to me.

People started arriving at 7pm and it turned out that the first two people through the door were my parents. This was great as it meant that I had the chance to talk to them and it was nice to feel the support. The room started to fill and it was time for the first runway show to begin. I was the last designer to show a collection and I was happy with this arrangement. It meant that my looks would be the freshest on people minds.

9.15pm and my models were all dressed and ready to go in their first looks. It felt like I had a butterfly nest in my stomach. Look after look my collection was shown and to walk out and feel the applause from the audience was simply amazing.

After the show I got the chance to network with people in the audience and I made a business connection with a potential new event sponsor. The event was put on by Eleganza Events and helped raise £335 for Sheffield Children's Hospital.

An amazing experience.

Suede Feet

✌️😄Happy Monday! ðŸ˜„✌️It's been a day filled with fabric, sewing and pinning! My back is aching but I can't wait to see my garments worn in November! Very exiting! Watch this space for the looks! What have your plans been today? After having it on loop a little today I've got Jessie J Burin' Up stuck in my head...🎶

I wanted to keep it simple today with my look as I'll be behind a sewing machine all day so I picked a basic print tee with skinny jeans and my black suede Chelsea boots. I've wanted some Chelsea boots for ages now as I feel they add a little dapperness to any look with them both being casual but smart at the same time. Love them! New in at Topman! Best of all? It's one day till payday! Yeah only 1 day! 💰💰💰

How To Wear Sparkle This Season

Hello!

Every girl likes to sparkle right? But sometimes it can feel like too many accessories and it can make the whole outfit look ruined, over worked and like its trying too hard to be pretty. This season tackles that issue and designers have created ways to make women sparkle in a much more effortless way!

Gem's, sequins and beads galore. Designers such as Balenciaga, Marni, Gucci and more have incorporated these into the garments already meaning that the look is already accessorised for you! No fuss. I love this idea. It means women can just throw on their bejewelled sweater or top and walk out of the door (hopefully with more on than just the sweater or top!) and your already effortlessly glamorous! Designers have clustered the jewels to add extra punch. Be ready to sparkle more than a vampire out of Twilight with this stunning new trend.

Pair with mixes of texture for added style! Add a faux fur trim coat and boots and you've got a stunning autumn and winter 14 look! Happy autumn!

The Front Line

Hello!

Ready to fight? This season sees the return of the utility/military trend. I love this trend as I think its effortless and my military boots from River Island are a major staple in my day to day wardrobe anyway. This is becoming a trend that returns season after season with designers outing their own twists and influences.

Look for tones of khaki, black and sand. Neutral tones work best. A key way to work this trend is to mix textures. Mix wools, leather and faux fur to add major interest and variety to the look. A wool jumper paired with a faux fur trimmed parka with skinny jeans and of course statement military leather boots will work a treat! No accessories needed! Effortless. Designers such as Balmain, Isabel Marant and Balenciaga used this trend for their AW14 shows. An easy way to look at this trend and what you could pull from your wardrobe you have already is to think about utility. Pockets, zips, hoods or waterproof fabric etc. Is the garment very practical?

Guy's you can wear this trend too! The same rules apply!

Right Shoe Forward

Hello!

Each season see's one item that everyone sees as a must have. The golden ticket to the fashion frontline. This season we see the return of the boot. I personally love my military boots for all seasons and I see them as being my major players in my day to day wardrobe. Boots are investment pieces of fashion I think. They are bigger shoes, more statement making and more interesting. More fun if you like.

They can be dressed up or dressed down. Designers from Versace, Michael Kors and Topshop Unique and many, many more have created boots for their autumn winter collections. Knee high boots for women are my favourite. Pair these with a '50's style a line skirt with a sporty tee tucked in with a belt will be sure to win you style points this season! Ankle boots that are looser in fabric so they roll around your ankle look great with denim and roll up the hem of the jeans too for more interest. As stylish as they are maybe think about practicality of the boots when buying them! You may love cut out boots that reveal more leg but is it worth having your legs freeze if it starts snowing?

Guy's, look to military boots and Chelsea boots this season! Pair these with a classic pair of jeans with the hems rolled for extra style points. Add a pea coat and a scarf and you've got a perfect effortless look for autumn and winter!
